    Japanese investment will increase, up to 100,000 workers can be sent: Press Secretary

    The Japanese visit will increase foreign investment in Bangladesh as well as pave the way for sending expatriate workers, the Chief Advisor’s press wing said.

    This information was given at a press briefing on contemporary issues organized at the Bangladesh Foreign Service Academy on Sunday (June 1).

    The Chief Advisor’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said that Japan will invest heavily in the Matarbari project. In addition, there was positive talk about the country’s businessmen investing in Bangladesh. In addition, there was talk of sending 100,000 workers to the country annually.

    He said that Japan will cooperate in the master plan for Matarbari. Japan will provide a large share of the $29 million. In addition, the purpose of the visit was to increase the interest of Japanese investors, which was also largely successful. Talks were held with Japan’s main investment agency-Jetpo. They gave a positive response to the investment.

    Stating that there is immense potential for sending workers to Japan and working on the country’s manpower market, he added that Japan wants to take 100,000 people in 5 years, work will also be done on this. In addition, discussions were held to resolve the visa complications that used to arise when going to Japan. Deputy Press Secretary Azad Majumder and Assistant Press Secretary Ahmed Faiz were also present at the press briefing.
