Judicial killing of Jamaat leaders was carried out through false witnesses: Dr. Shafiqur Rahman

Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has commented that ‘judicial killing’ of Jamaat leaders was carried out through false witnesses. He said this at an emergency press conference organized at the Diploma Engineers Institute in the capital on Tuesday (May 27).

The Jamaat Ameer said that the court has acquitted ATM Azharul Islam of all the false charges brought against him. After waiting for justice for a long time, he was finally freed. At that time, the Kangaroo Court had sentenced the top leaders of Jamaat and said that if the rest had survived, they could have given a lot to the country.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman also said that during this sentencing, a situation was created where there was no atmosphere to protest. No testimony was taken from any of the families of the victims of the 1971 massacre. Sukharanjan Bali is a shining example of that incident. The sentence was carried out in a rigged trial. He also said that the families of Jamaat leaders were torn apart at that time.

On the other hand, the Jamaat Amir alleged that two torture cells were set up during the trial. He said that the victims were brought to one and tortured. The other was taken to a safe home and tortured in the name of interrogation, violating the law.

Stating that at that time, if there was a transparent trial, they could not have been sentenced, he said that they were hanged and sentenced in an opaque process. The incident of that trial process came to the attention of the world and the people of the country through the Skype scandal.

Earlier, this morning, the Appellate Division acquitted Jamaat leader ATM Azharul Islam, who was sentenced to death in a case of crimes against humanity.
