July Revolution established our equality, friendship and human rights – Hill Advisor
Advisor for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Ambassador (Retd.) Mr. Supradeep Chakma said, the July Revolution established our equality, friendship and human rights. He said, we all have to move forward by embracing the spirit of July. Today’s change in the July Martyrs’ Revolution has given us the motivation to move forward in a new way. Advisor Supradeep Chakma said these things while speaking as the chief guest at a prayer mahfil program on the occasion of July Martyrs’ Day under the supervision of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs at the auditorium of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Complex Building on Bailey Road in Dhaka today (July 16). Advisor Supradeep Chakma also said, the dream of building a clean Bangladesh free from discrimination, corruption and tyranny was in the minds of the July Martyrs. This July Revolution of 2024 has changed the fate of Bangladesh. We pray for the peace of the departed souls of those who were martyred in the progress of the July Revolution. We have organized a prayer meeting on behalf of the government. The advisor has called on all concerned to work unitedly.
Advisor Supradeep Chakma paid tribute to the July martyrs and said, “I remember with deep respect all the martyrs who gave their lives in the movement to overthrow the authoritarian government in the July mass uprising in 2024. The countrymen will remember with respect those who sacrificed their lives for the good of the country and those who suffered permanent disabilities.” Advisor Supradeep Chakma also said that the July Revolution not only ended the authoritarian regime, but also gave the gift of a non-discriminatory, corruption-free state system. He said, this July Revolution has changed the fate of the people of Bangladesh. Today, I have become an advisor because of the martyrs of this July Revolution. The Hill Advisor expressed his hope that they would move forward unitedly by dedicating themselves to the development of every corner of the beautiful Bangladesh that they got in return for their sacrifice. In memory of the martyrs, he announced the planting of 15,000 trees in the three Hill districts on July 27, and various sports programs including football, cricket and hockey tournaments to keep the youth free from drugs.
The program was presided over by the Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Abdul Khalek. He said, “The determination to establish merit, honesty and transparency in society was formed at the beginning of the July Revolution. The foundation of the mass uprising began after the martyrdom of Abu Sayeed of Rangpur on July 16, 2024. At the end of the ceremony, prayers and supplications were held in memory of the July martyrs seeking forgiveness. Officials of the ministry and its subordinate organizations participated in this. The ceremony was attended by, among others, Chairman of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board Major General (Retd.) Anup Kumar Chakma, Chairman of Rangamati District Council Kajal Talukder, Chairman of Bandarban District Council Thanjama Lusai, Acting Chairman of Khagrachhari District Council Shefalika Tripura, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Dr. Rashida Ferdous, Additional Secretary Md. Monirul Islam, Additional Secretary Pradeep Kumar Mahottam ndc, Joint Secretary Konkan Chakma, Joint Secretary Atul Sarkar, Joint Secretary Md. Mominur Rahman and officials of the ministry and its agencies were present.
