Kadam murder in Rajbari: 4 accused arrested after CCTV footage
Police have arrested four accused in the murder case of Milan Kadam (35) over a dispute over Sonapur Bazar lease in Baliakandi, Rajbari.
They were arrested in a raid in the Nababpur Union area of the upazila on Wednesday (May 28) morning after seeing CCTV footage.
Rajbari Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Md. Sharif Al Rajib confirmed the arrest.
The deceased Milan alias Kadam is the son of Khabir Mollah of Char Kultia village of Majbari Union of Kalukhali Upazila.
The arrested accused are: Md. Mizan Mia (19), son of Md. Farhad Mia of Padmadi Mia Para village of Nababpur Union of Baliakandi Upazila, Md. Limon Sheikh (20), son of the deceased Nannu Sheikh of Sadashibpur village, Md. Motaleb Sheikh of Padmadi Mia Para village. Rajib Sheikh (25) and Abdul Razzak Fakir of Ghoramara village Md. Sohag Fakir (21) son.
According to police sources, a dispute arose between the Arju group of Charkultia village of Majhbari union of Kalukhali upazila and the Shimul group of Betbaria village over the lease of Sonapur market in Nawabpur union of Baliakandi upazila. When the Arju group went to collect the rent of the raw market, the Shimul group prevented it. The dispute between the two groups escalated. They fought several times.
Over this dispute, on May 25, between 12:15 pm and 12:30 pm, people from the Shimul group seriously injured Arju (40) son of Khabir Molla, Md. Lokman Mandal’s son Milon alias Kadam (35), and Habil Mandal’s son Bachchu Mandal (38) of Charkultia village of Majhbari union of Kalukhali upazila with country-made sharp weapons.
Later, with the help of police, fire service and local people, the injured were rescued and taken to Kalukhali Upazila Health Complex. After initial treatment, Arju and Kadam were shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment, while Bachchu was sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
Kadam died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital at around 1:45 pm on Tuesday (May 27). In this incident, Kadam’s elder brother Md. Afzal Hossain filed a case with Baliakandi Police Station on Wednesday (May 28) naming 27 people and 10 to 15 unknown people as the plaintiff.
Rajbari Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Md. Sharif Al Rajib said, “When a case was filed in this incident, the police identified the accused after looking at the CCTV footage and arrested four accused directly involved in the murder with the help of information technology. The accused were handed over to Rajbari Court on Wednesday. Efforts are underway to arrest the other accused.
