    Magura child Asia rape and murder case verdict on May 17

    The court has set May 17 as the date for the verdict in the Magura child Asia rape and murder case. Magura Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge M Zahid Hasan set this date after presenting arguments at around 11 am on Tuesday (May 13).

    Earlier, the arguments at the Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal began on Monday (May 12) at 10 am and ended at 12 noon.

    The court set today as the day for presenting arguments as the testimony and hearing of the accused were completed. The state and accused lawyers analyzed various facts and evidence in the case and presented their arguments in court. Since the proceedings on the first day were not completed, the day for presenting arguments was set again on Tuesday (May 13).

    Advocate Monirul Islam Makul, the state’s lawyer in the sensational Asia rape and murder case, said that the day of argument in the sensational Asia rape and murder case of Magura was scheduled. The trial began in the morning in the court. The state presented arguments in the presence of the accused. Then the court set May 17 for the verdict in the case.

    A total of 29 witnesses testified in the court in this case. There were seven seizure lists in the case. There were 16 witnesses in these seven seizure lists. Out of which 12 witnesses gave evidence in the court and verified their seizure lists. They verified the seized evidence in the court. There were three medical certificates in this case. Five doctors signed the medical certificates. They have already testified in court and given statements in support of the medical certificates. And they identified their signatures in the medical certificates.

    In this case, 29 witnesses have testified and have been able to prove beyond a doubt the two sections of Section 9 of the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Act, 2003, against the accused Hitu Sheikh in the court.

    It is known that the child Achia was raped on March 6 while visiting her sister’s in-laws in Nijnanduali village of Magura town. The 8-year-old child, who was raped, died while undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka on March 13.

    Students of various universities including schools and colleges across the country staged protests to protest the incident and demand justice. Local lawyers also demanded justice for the accused in this incident and announced that they would not provide any legal assistance to the accused.

    The main accused in the case, Hitu Sheikh, the father-in-law of the child’s sister, gave a confessional statement in court on March 15. Although he confessed to being the only one involved in the rape and attempted murder, on April 13, the investigating officer of the case, the Inspector (Investigation) of Magura Sadar Police Station, filed charges against all four accused in the case and submitted an investigation report.
