Masks and sanitizers mandatory at HSC examination centers

The Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board has ordered extra caution in the upcoming HSC and equivalent examinations due to the increasing outbreak of coronavirus and dengue across the country. Emphasis has been placed on strictly adhering to hygiene rules at the examination centers. In particular, wearing masks and using hand sanitizers has been made mandatory at the centers.

These things were said in an urgent directive signed by Dhaka Education Board Chairman and Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee President Professor Dr. Khandokar Ehsanul Kabir on Monday (June 16).

The directive states that it is mandatory for all concerned, including examinees, to wear masks when entering the examination center. At the same time, hand sanitizers should be provided at the entrance of the center. To prevent the spread of dengue, the environment inside and around the center should be kept clean and mosquito repellent should be sprayed before the start of the examination. It has also been said to seek the cooperation of the local administration in this regard.

The directive also states that the seating arrangement in the examination room should be done properly as per the instructions of the board. A medical team should be kept active at each examination center and constant communication should be maintained with the Civil Surgeon or Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer. At the same time, to increase public awareness, it should be ensured that hygiene rules are followed in coordination with the local administration and campaigns should be run to avoid crowding or congestion of parents in front of the examination center.

In addition, everyone, including the concerned teachers and students, is urged to follow the hygiene rules. Students have also been warned to use only approved model calculators to maintain the fairness of the examination.

It is to be noted that according to the schedule announced by the board, this year’s HSC and equivalent examinations will start on June 26 and will continue until August 10. The practical examination will be held on August 11-21.
