    Milton Samaddar in jail along with his wife in attempted murder case

    A court has ordered to send Milton Samaddar, chairman of Child and Old Age Care Ashram, and his wife Mithu Haldar to jail after they surrendered in an attempted murder case at the capital’s Mirpur Model Police Station. On Saturday (May 17), the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Minhazur Rahman rejected the bail and issued the order after the hearing.

    In this regard, his lawyer Ohiduzzaman Biplob said that the court took cognizance of the charge sheet in the case on May 6. The previous day, on May 5, his mother died. Due to which Milton Samaddar could not appear. We had applied for time. But the court rejected it and issued an arrest warrant against Milton Samaddar and his wife Mithu Haldar. Today, they surrendered in court and sought bail. After the hearing, the court rejected the bail and ordered to send them to jail.

    It is learned that the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) police arrested Milton Samaddar in a raid on the night of May 1 last year in the capital’s Mirpur area. Three cases were filed against him on charges of making a fake death certificate, torturing people in a torture cell and human trafficking. The next day, on May 2, the court granted Milton Samaddar a three-day remand in the Mirpur Model Police Station case on charges of making a fake death certificate by deception. Then on May 5, DB Police Inspector Sikder Maitul Alam applied for a seven-day remand along with showing him arrested in a case under the Human Trafficking Act. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehera Mahbub granted the application to show him arrested in the human trafficking case. Later, after the remand hearing, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Shanta Akhter granted him a four-day remand. After the remand, he was sent to jail on May 9. While in jail, he was shown arrested in another case of beating. He was later released on bail in three cases. After the investigation, DB Police Inspector Ataur Rahman filed a chargesheet in the court in the attempt to murder case against Milton Samaddar. Milton Samaddar and his wife Mithu Haldar were accused in this case.
