Mob violence has reduced, though not completely controlled: Home Affairs Advisor
Mob violence has not been completely controlled, but it has been reduced, said Home Affairs Advisor Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury. He spoke to reporters after the meeting of the Law and Order Committee at the Secretariat on Tuesday (June 24). The Home Affairs Advisor said that mob violence has not been completely controlled, but it has been reduced.
Expressing regret over the attack on former CEC Nurul Huda, he said that the kind of incident that happened to the former Chief Election Commissioner is unacceptable in any way. Action will be taken to prevent such incidents from happening in the future. The Home Affairs Advisor said that those involved in this incident will be brought under the law. Even if members of the police force are involved, action will be taken against them.
Stating that security is being strengthened ahead of the next national elections, he said that the heads of the forces are also active to maintain law and order during the elections. The police have become much more active than before. The current police have become humane police. However, Md. Jahangir Alam said that maintaining law and order during the election does not depend only on the government, but also on those who will participate in the election. Measures will be taken as the Election Commission wants.
