    Mystery of Nafiza’s murder solved in Moulvibazar, accused arrested

    The police have solved the mystery of the murder of Nafiza Jannat Anjum, a ninth-grade student in Kulaura, Moulvibazar. Neighbor Md. Junel Mia, who was involved in the incident, has been arrested. According to his confession, the police have recovered the deceased’s burqa, school bag, books and shoes from various places.

    Superintendent of Police MKH Jahangir Hossain gave this information at a press briefing held at the hall of the District Police Superintendent’s office on Monday (June 16) afternoon.

    He said, ‘Nafiza, daughter of Abdul Khalik of Sherpur village in Kulaura, was a ninth-grade student of the local Sreepur High School. Neighbor Junel Mia used to try to build a friendship with her on the way to and from school. On the morning of June 12, while she was returning from private school, Junel grabbed her from behind and choked her, causing Nafiza to faint. Later, they left his lifeless body in a nearby bush and scattered books, bags and other belongings.’

    Two days later, on June 14, at around 5:45 pm, the police recovered his body from a bush next to a canal in Sherpur village. Later, following a case filed by his family, the police launched an investigation and arrested the accused.

    Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Noble Chakma, Additional Superintendent of Police of Kulaura Circle Md. Ajmal Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kulaura Police Station Golam Afsar and Inspector Sudipto Bhattacharya were present at the press briefing.
