Nahid condemns demand for resignation of student representatives from advisory council

National Citizens Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam has condemned BNP’s demand for the resignation of student representatives from the advisory council.

He told reporters after a meeting with the interim government’s chief advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus in Jamuna on Saturday (May 24) night.

    Nahid said,

NCP has no relationship with student advisors – they are representing the mass uprising from within the government. Asking student representatives to resign means disrespecting them. We have condemned it.

Regarding the July Declaration, he said, the chief advisor has been called upon to issue the July Declaration within the stipulated time. He has also assured him of that.

He also said that a demand has been made to ensure assistance to all July martyrs and injured people as soon as possible.

    Nahid said,

All elections held during the tenure of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina should be declared officially and legally invalid, and a demand for early local government elections has also been made.

He said, the interim government’s chief advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has expressed disappointment. Because many parties have withdrawn from the promises of the July movement and are trying to achieve their demands by applying pressure. As a result, Dr. Yunus is uncomfortable and unable to work.
