    National Credit and Commerce Bank to remain temporarily closed

    All banking activities of National Credit and Commerce (NCC) Bank PLC will be temporarily closed for 108 hours for core banking system upgrade. The central bank has given permission in this regard. The Department of Offsite Supervision (DOS) of Bangladesh Bank gave this information in a notification on Thursday (July 3).

    It said that the existing core banking system (CBS) of National Credit and Commerce Bank will be upgraded. In order to carry out the activities smoothly, the bank has requested to temporarily close all banking activities (branches, sub-branches, debit cards, ATMs, BACPS, BFTN, RTGS, NPSB, Internet banking, SWIFT, etc.) from 8 pm on July 8 to 8 am on July 13.

    Bangladesh Bank said that in view of the application, consent has been given to temporarily close National Credit and Commerce Bank under the powers conferred under Section 45 of the Bank Companies Act, 1991. The central bank has sent instructions in this regard to the managing directors and chief executive officers of all scheduled banks operating in Bangladesh. Meanwhile, all banking activities of Rupali Bank PLC will also be temporarily closed from July 4 to July 8 to relocate its data center.
