    New price of sacrificial animal skins set

    The government has set the price of sacrificial animal skins with the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha in mind. With this new price, the government has increased the price of salted skins of sacrificial cows by Tk 5 from Tk 60 to Tk 65 compared to last year. And outside Dhaka, it has been increased by Tk 5 to Tk 55 to Tk 60. At the same time, the price of khasi and goat skins has been increased by Tk 2 each.

    Commerce Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin made these remarks at a press conference at the conference room of the Ministry of Commerce of the Secretariat on Monday (May 25) afternoon.

    He said that cow skins have been set at Tk 60 to Tk 65 per square foot in Dhaka and Tk 55 to Tk 60 outside Dhaka. However, the minimum purchase price of a fully salted skin has been set at Tk 1,350 inside Dhaka and Tk 1,150 outside Dhaka. The purchase price of khasi skins has been set at Tk 22 to Tk 27 per square foot and the price of goat skins has been set at Tk 20 to Tk 22.

    Emphasizing the preservation of raw hides, 30,000 tons of salt will be supplied to madrasas and orphanages free of cost this year. He also mentioned that no raw hides from outside Dhaka will be allowed to enter the capital for 10 days. It is to be noted that last year, the price of salted raw hides of cow per square foot in Dhaka was fixed at 60 to 65 taka and outside Dhaka at 50 to 55 taka. And the price of salted hides of goat was fixed at 20 to 25 taka and goat hide at 18 to 20 taka.
