    New project coming to support Rohingyas

    A new project is coming to support Rohingyas who have taken refuge in Bangladesh. This will solve their water crisis and infrastructure problems. This new project will cost about 6.5 billion taka. A large part of which is a grant.

    Apart from this, the Asian Development Bank – ADB will provide a loan of 232 crore taka. It will be implemented by the Department of Public Health Engineering by 2028.

    The ECNEC meeting began on Tuesday (June 24) morning at the NEC auditorium under the chairmanship of Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus. 15 projects on the agenda. The cost has been estimated at 6,868 crore taka.

    The Planning Commission said that the cost has been reduced in 18 sectors of the Rohingya quality of life development project. Under this, human waste management in Bhasan Char Rohingya camp, development of water reservoir in Ukhia and construction of safe water pipeline in Teknaf Municipality will be done.

    Apart from this, discussions are underway at the ECNEC meeting on projects to build drug addiction treatment and rehabilitation centers in seven divisional cities, the 3rd submarine cable, and a godown for fertilizer storage.
