No compromise on cleanliness: Local Government Secretary
Md. Rezaul Maksud Zahedi, Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, has warned that there will be no compromise on cleanliness. He gave this warning before a special cleanliness and mosquito extermination drive to increase public awareness on dengue prevention and destroy Aedes mosquito breeding grounds in the area adjacent to Bahadur Shah Park in Old Dhaka on Saturday (July 5) morning.
The secretary said, ‘The drive to increase public awareness among the people, including dengue prevention, will continue.’ Stating that monitoring teams have been formed in ward by ward to prevent dengue, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator Shahjahan Mia said, ‘From now on, a decision has been taken to operate mobile courts to prevent dengue. Initiatives have been taken to conduct the campaign due to the possibility of water logging in the buildings under construction.’ Informing that rallies and leaflets have been distributed to raise public awareness, he said, ‘Everyone should keep the courtyards and surrounding areas of the house clean.’ Then the mosquito extermination campaign began with the rally. Mosquito spray was given to prevent the spread of dengue. Garbage and stagnant water were cleaned.
