Notunbazar blockade: UIU students do not move despite lathicharge
Police tried to move United International University (UIU) students who were protesting by blocking the road with a 5-point demand including the cancellation of the expulsion order by using lathicharge. However, they did not leave the capital’s Notunbazar area.
Today, Saturday (June 20), they took to the road from 8 am with a five-point demand. This brought traffic to a standstill on the Notunbazar-Gulshan-Banasree connecting road.
The students demanded that the expulsion of the expelled students of the university should be unconditionally withdrawn and they should be compensated. All students, teachers, officials and employees involved in the expulsion should be brought under punishment through investigation. They also demanded the formation of a reform commission for private universities and the cancellation of the 15 percent VAT imposed on the university.
