Passenger who went missing after being slapped by a plane has been rescued at a railway station 800 km away
A man who was slapped by a fellow passenger after panicking in mid-air has finally been rescued. He went missing after the plane landed in Kolkata, West Bengal. He was later rescued from Barpeta railway station in Assam, about 800 km away. This information was reported by NDTV in a report on Sunday (August 3). The report said that 32-year-old Hussain Ahmed Majumdar is a resident of Cachar district of Assam, India. He boarded a Kolkata-bound flight from Mumbai last Thursday and was scheduled to go to Silchar from there the next day. NDTV says that Hussain suddenly suffered a panic attack after boarding IndiGo Airlines flight number 6E-138. At the time of the incident, two cabin crew members of the plane were helping Hussain to disembark. Then a passenger sitting next to him suddenly slapped him. Another passenger recorded the incident on his mobile phone. In the video, the cabin crew can be seen telling the passenger to be calm and another passenger protesting and asking the attacker, “Why did you hit him?” After getting off the plane in Kolkata, security personnel handed over Hafizul Rahman, the accused in the slapping of Hussain, to the police. However, he was later released. On the other hand, Hussain Majumdar also left the airport. Hussain Majumdar, who works in a hotel in Mumbai, has travelled this route many times before. His family said they were not aware of anything happening on the flight and went to pick him up at Silchar airport on Friday. Later, they recognized him after seeing the viral video and tried to contact him on the phone. But it was found to be switched off. A general diary (GD) was filed by the family regarding his disappearance. Later, initial investigations revealed that Hussain did not board the Silchar flight on Friday and did not board any other flight from Kolkata on Saturday. NDTV says that the police later received information that Hussain was at the Barpeta railway station and he was rescued from there. An official said that Hussain initially felt unwell and is now being taken home. Meanwhile, Hafizul Rahman, the accused in the plane-crashing incident, has been banned from travelling on any IndiGo flight. The airline said in a statement that he will not be able to travel on any IndiGo flight from now on. The statement further said, “The safety and well-being of our passengers and crew is always our highest priority. We are committed to discouraging such indecent behaviour on board the aircraft. For this reason, the accused has been temporarily suspended from travelling on any of our flights.”
