Petrol pump and tanker owners strike on 10 demands
The Bangladesh Petrol Pump and Tanker Owners’ Unity Council has called for a half-day strike on 10 demands, including a minimum 7 percent oil sales commission.
On Sunday (May 25), all activities related to pumping oil from depots and selling oil from petrol pumps will be closed from 6 am to 2 pm.
This has brought the activities of petrol pumps across the country, including Dhaka, to a standstill. And vehicle drivers and passengers are suffering.
They complain that they are in trouble due to such a sudden strike. Many are unable to go to hospitals, test centers and offices without being able to get oil.
Meanwhile, those in charge of petrol pump stations say that they are observing a half-day strike after giving a prior announcement.
On the other hand, petrol pump owners have held a meeting with senior officials of Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation from 10:30 am.
