Political parties to meet with chief advisor in the afternoon
The second round of meetings between chief advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus and political parties is going to be held today, Monday. Chief advisor’s deputy press secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumdar gave this information in a press briefing on Sunday.
He said that the meeting will be held at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road from 4:30 pm on Monday (June 2). All the political parties concerned with the reform talks have been invited. The National Consensus Commission has started their second round of political talks.
‘The chief advisor will inaugurate the talks tomorrow and the talks will continue in the future,’ he added. There are chances of several more rounds of meetings before and after Eid-ul-Azha.
Dr. Yunus has held several rounds of meetings with political parties before this. On May 24, leaders of BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami and Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) met with the chief advisor. The next day, he held two more meetings with various political parties. At a discussion meeting in the capital on Saturday (May 31) afternoon, BNP standing committee member Salahuddin Ahmed said that the chief advisor has invited BNP again for discussions. The second round of discussions is scheduled to be held on June 2. Salahuddin said that the government is continuing the formalities of discussions with political parties one after another, but there is no real progress. Discussions are taking place, but nothing is being done. To overcome the crisis of public trust, real steps are needed, not just formalities.
