Polythene ban campaign is starting from today
After Supershop, polythene has also been removed from the raw market since November 1. If the government does not follow the law, they will be brought under the law.
As a part of this, the Ministry of Environment will conduct operations and mobile courts against polythene producers from today.
Tapan Kumar Biswas, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, told the media on Saturday.
He said that the mobile court was closed as Friday and Saturday were weekends. However, monitoring activities will continue from today.
Tapan Kumar Biswas said, our campaign will continue in full swing across the capital. The campaign has already started at the district level. We will visit every shop in the capital and supervise. Care will be taken to ensure that no one can use polythene. Everyone is just talking about bringing alternatives. But they don’t know that there are already many alternatives in the market. Apart from that, the government is also very active in this matter. Alternative production is being worked on. So that everyone can reach the market.
He also said that measures will be taken to ensure that no one can use polythene. The matter will be dealt with strictly. Everyone knows about the harmful side of using polythene. Even ten years ago people marketed without polythene. So if you want it is still possible. But it will take some time to completely eliminate polyethylene from the market. Customers can use jute and cloth bags instead of polythene. Strict action will be taken if polythene bags are found despite instructions to traders. After Supershop, the use of polythene bags has been banned in raw markets from Friday.
