Reckless speeding bus loses control and falls into ditch, 9 injured
A bus in Ramgarh, Khagrachari lost control and fell into a ditch, injuring 9 passengers. The accident occurred in the Mahbubnagar area of the upazila around 6 am on Tuesday (June 24).
The injured are: bus helper Ramjan Ali, supervisor Azad, passengers Nazrul Islam, Tania, Hazera Begum, bus drivers Zahida Akhter, Md. Rezwan, Khorshed Alam and Md. Ibrahim.
It is learned that a Shanti Paribahan bus was going from Dhaka to Khagrachari. On the way, the bus lost control in the Mahbubnagar area of the upazila and fell into the ditch. At that time, the police and locals rescued the injured.
In this regard, Ramgarh Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Moin Uddin said that after receiving the news of the accident, a force reached the spot and rescued the injured. Two of the injured were sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital in critical condition. The rest of the injured are being treated at the local Jaliapara BGB Hospital.
Efforts are underway to rescue the bus from the ditch, but the driver is absconding, the OC said.
