Red cows are the first choice for sacrifice for the people of Chittagong. Many call this special breed of cattle of Chittagong called Red Chittagong Cattle the eight-faced red cow. Being medium-sized, handsome, and fresh, this red cow of Chittagong is in high demand.
Farmers say that the people of Chittagong are a little more attracted to red cows. Besides, there is a lot of demand for cattle of Mir Kadim, Shahiwal, and Friesian breeds.
In a few days, the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals will start in full swing across the country. Now, additional care of sacrificial animals is going on in the farms. The cows have been raised completely in the indigenous method.
They are bathed almost every day. The living space of the animals is kept clean every day. They are fed two meals a day with natural food such as corn, kheil, raw grass, wheat husk and straw. The district livestock officer informed about the production of animals on steroid-free natural food.
Chittagong District Livestock Officer Md. Alamgir said that the cows here are not given steroids. They are raised on natural food.
It is worth noting that the demand for sacrificial animals in Chittagong is about 9 lakh.
