Sensation in Gaibandha over the body of a young man in chains

The police have recovered the hanging body of a youth named Payel Mia (25) in Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha. His body was recovered from his house in Betghara Ranga More area of the upazila on Saturday (August 2) morning. The deceased Payel Mia is the son of Attab Ali of that area. Locals said that Payel’s body was first seen by his family in the bedroom of his house in the morning. Later, they went to the police station to report the incident and the police prepared a report. The family of the deceased said that Payel had been addicted to drugs for a long time. That is why he was kept chained to keep him under control. Police said that looking at the condition of the body, it initially appears to be a suicide. However, questions have been raised among the locals about how a person could commit suicide by hanging himself while his hands and feet are chained. The matter is being investigated. Gobindaganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Bulbul Islam said, Payal’s family is claiming it was suicide. However, the matter is being investigated. The body has been sent to the Gaibandha Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy. The exact cause of death will be known once the autopsy report is received.
