Shahbag blockade to demand justice for Shammo murder Chhatra Dal
Chhatra Dal has blocked the road in Shahbag to protest the murder of Shahriar Alam, a 25th batch student of Dhaka University (DU) Institute of Education and Research and Chhatra Dal leader of Sir A.F. Rahman Hall.
They are holding this program despite the rain on Thursday (May 22).
Earlier on Wednesday (May 21), a message signed by Chhatra Dal office secretary Jahangir Alam informed that the program will be held to demand justice for Shammo’s murder.
The signed message further informed that a sit-in program will be held in front of Shahbag intersection and Intercontinental Hotel on Thursday (May 22) from 10 am to 5 pm to protest the negligence in the investigation of the Shahriar Alam Shammo murder case and to demand the arrest of all the accused including the main killer involved in the murder, ensuring exemplary punishment in a fair trial and a safe campus.

On the night of May 13, Shahriar Shammo, a student of the 2018-19 academic year of the Institute of Education and Research of Dhaka University and the literature and publications editor of the Sir A.F. Rahman Hall branch of Chhatra Dal, was stabbed to death in a place adjacent to the Bangla Academy on the Dhaka University campus.
Three people have been arrested and sent to jail in this incident.
