Son arrested for attempting to kill mother in Sirajganj

A young man named Tarek Hossain has been arrested in Tarash, Sirajganj for attempting to kill his mother by beating her up for not getting money for drugs.

On Sunday (May 25) evening, Tarash Police Station arrested him from Boalia village of Tarash Sadar Union of the upazila.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tarash Police Station Ziaur Rahman said that Tarek Hossain, son of the deceased Zahurul Islam of Boalia village of Tara upazila, was already addicted to drugs. He had been taking various types of drugs for a long time and often beat his mother Tara Begum for money for drugs. In continuation of this, since Sunday morning, he asked his mother to give him money for buying drugs. But when Tarek asked for money, his mother told him that she did not have any money. Hearing this, Tarek started beating his mother severely with a stick. At one stage of the beating, her mother’s head burst and started bleeding profusely and she lost consciousness and fell to the ground.

The OC further said that later people came and rescued Begum and first brought her to the Tarash Upazila 50-bed health complex. When her condition deteriorated there, she was later transferred to the Sirajganj Shaheed M Munsur Ali Medical College Hospital. Later, when the locals informed the Tarash Thana police, a team of Tarash Thana police conducted a raid in the village of Boalia in the evening and arrested Tarek Hossain. Preparations are underway to file a case in this regard.
