    The risky billboard at Laboni Point was finally removed

    After the news was published in the Time News, the risky billboard at the entrance to the Cox’s Bazar beach was finally removed.

    On Saturday (June 14) at around 10:30 am, the Cox’s Bazar municipal authorities dismantled it and removed it.

    Earlier, on Friday, the Time News published a report titled ‘Risk billboard at Laboni Point, tourists in fear’. The risky billboard was removed immediately after this.

    Maqsud Mia, a volunteer employed by the Cox’s Bazar Municipality, said, ‘The awareness billboard partially collapsed before Eid-ul-Azha. Then it was decided to repair it. But then the Eid holiday passed. As a result, the billboard was not repaired. After that, the billboard collapsed further. Which was unknown. But after the report was published in the Time News on Friday, the matter came to the attention of the administration. Then the higher authorities gave instructions to dismantle this risky billboard. So it was dismantled and removed from here. If it had not been removed in the condition it was in, an accident would have occurred at any time.

    In this regard, Nafis Intesar Nafi, Executive Magistrate of the District Branding and Tourism Cell of the Cox’s Bazar District Administration, said, “The billboard was in a risky condition. Therefore, the billboard was dismantled and removed on Saturday morning.

    It is worth noting that a creative billboard was installed at Laboni Point to convey an environmental message, the message of which was: ‘Plastic Pollution in the Ocean: Are You and I Not Responsible?’. Made of bamboo and plastic, this billboard was used to illustrate how plastic pollution is harming wildlife with objects such as marine fish and octopus. But on June 5, it partially collapsed due to low pressure and stormy winds in the Bay of Bengal. Since then, the billboard has been in a risky condition.
