Three hilsa sold on Facebook for 26 thousand taka!
The buyer of Bogra bought three hilsa fish weighing six and a half kilograms from online at Daulatdia Ghat on Wednesday afternoon.
In Goland upazila of Rajbari three big hilsa of Padma-Yamuna were caught in the net of a fisherman named Abdul Hai Haldar. It is reported that an expatriate buyer of Bogra bought three fish for 26 thousand taka.
Fisherman Abdul Hai Halder went fishing in the Padma-Yamuna river with his team on Wednesday afternoon. In the afternoon, they caught three large-sized hilsa in their nets. In the evening, they took the fish to No. 5 ferry ghat of Daulatdia and weighed three fish at 6 kg 500 grams. Later, the fish merchant of Ferighat, Emperor Shahjahan Sheikh bought the fish directly from the fisherman Abdul Hai at the rate of 3 thousand 800 taka at the price of 24 thousand 700 taka per kg.
Padma’s large hilsa is in high demand. In the evening, fisherman Abdul Hai Haldar brought three fish to Daulatdia’s Ferighat No. 5 area. Later, when I posted a picture of fish on my Facebook page, after a while, a London expatriate brother contacted me on Facebook and bought fish for his relatives in Bogra at the rate of 3, 4,000 taka per kg for a total of 26,000 taka. Later I sent the fish to his house in Boguras with my men.
Rajbari District Fisheries Officer (Acting) and Sadar Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Mostafa Al Rajeeb said that hilsa fish weighing two kilograms is usually less common. Now often in Daulatdia large size hilsa fish are caught in fishermen’s nets. Fishermen are profiting by selling these fishes.
