Thunderstorms and rain with a speed of 60 kmph are expected at night

The Meteorological Office is expecting thunderstorms and rain with a speed of up to 60 kmph over seven districts of the country. This has been informed in a warning issued for the country’s inland river ports till 1 am on Thursday (May 22).

The notification signed by Meteorologist Md. Omar Farooq said that temporary gusty or squally winds with a speed of 45 to 60 kmph may blow from the west or northwest over Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar districts. Along with this, rain or thunder may occur.

Therefore, river ports in these areas have been asked to display warning signal number 1. Meanwhile, according to another notification of the Meteorological Office, temporary gusty winds with lightning or rain or thunder are predicted in all divisions of the country for the next few days. There may be moderate to heavy rainfall in some places.
