Truck-microbus collision in Feni, 1 dead
One person was killed when a microbus hit the back of a vehicle on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway. Eight others were injured in the incident. The accident occurred at around 9:30 pm on Sunday (July 27) in the area adjacent to the Lalpol Starline Pump in Feni. According to police and local sources, the passengers were leaving for Chittagong in a microbus from Mahipal in Feni. On the way, the microbus hit the back of a truck in the Lalpol area. The passengers of the vehicle were seriously injured. Locals rescued them and took them to Feni General Hospital, where the doctor declared one of them dead. The identity of the deceased has not been found till the time of writing this report. The injured are Rabiul Islam (26), son of Abdur Rashid of Purba Ukil Para in Feni town, Amjad Hossain (36), son of Abul Kashem of Char Purgacha village in Ramgati upazila of Laxmipur, Shakil (24), son of Hasem of Purba Char Kalakoba village, Mehedi Hasan (20), son of Shipan of Dhalia area of the same upazila, Hasan (20), son of Alamgir Hossain of the same area, Ibrahim (25), son of Siraj Uddin of Lalua area of Kabirhat upazila of Noakhali, Rakib (25), son of Kamal Uddin of Purba Sholakia area of Maijdi, and Mahfuz (30), son of Iskandar Neamat Ullah of Fakira village in Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong. Two of the injured have been sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital in critical condition. The rest of the injured are undergoing treatment at Feni General Hospital. Mahipal Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Harun Ur Rashid said, “The body of the deceased has been kept at Feni General Hospital morgue. Efforts are underway to identify him. The injured are being treated. The microbus involved in the accident is in police custody. Necessary legal action will be taken after the investigation is completed.”
