Trump’s ban puts future Belgian queen at risk at Harvard University!
Princess Elizabeth, the future queen of Belgium, has completed her first year at the prestigious Harvard University in the United States. The ban imposed by US President Donald Trump’s administration on foreign students studying at the university has jeopardized the 23-year-old princess’s ability to continue her studies. However, the court has temporarily suspended the Trump administration’s ban.
According to a report by Reuters, the Trump administration on Thursday (May 22) revoked Harvard University’s ability to admit foreign students. It is forcing foreign students currently studying at the university to transfer to other institutions or canceling their legal status in the United States. At the same time, the Trump administration is threatening to extend such measures to other colleges.
“Princess Elizabeth has just completed her first year. The impact of the Trump administration’s decision will become clearer in the coming days and weeks,” said Laure Vandoorne, a spokeswoman for the Belgian royal palace. We are currently reviewing the situation.
“We are currently analyzing the situation and will give it time to be finalized. Much more could happen in the coming days and weeks,” said Xavier Bert, the palace’s director of communications.
Princess Elizabeth is studying public policy at Harvard. It is a two-year master’s degree program. According to the university’s website, the program broadens students’ perspectives and enhances their skills for a successful career in public administration.
Princess Elizabeth is the heir to the Belgian throne. She is the eldest of four children of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde. Before enrolling at Harvard, she earned a degree in history and politics from the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.
Harvard said on Thursday that the Trump administration’s move, which affects thousands of students, is illegal and vindictive. The university, angered by the decision, has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration. In a brief order on Friday, U.S. District Judge Alison Burroughs issued a stay on the Trump administration’s decision to revoke Harvard University’s ability to admit foreign students.
She said the Department of Homeland Security’s action created a “serious threat of harm.” Therefore, the order should not go into effect until the court has fully considered it.
