    Twin sisters drown in drain water in Sherpur

    Staff Correspondent, Sherpur: Twin sisters drowned in a drain near their house in the Char Namapara area of ​​Choto Jhau in Lachmanpur union of Sherpur Sadar upazila. The deceased were twin daughters Mila and Shila (11) of Salam Mia of Namapara village. The incident took place at 3:30 pm on Saturday (May 31).

    Relatives of the deceased and locals said that without anyone’s knowledge, 5 people went to bathe in a drain near their house. A total of 3 people, including Nila and Shila, drowned in the water while bathing. Later, locals saw it and rescued them from the water of the drain. The twin sisters died on the spot. The other one was admitted to the 250-bed General Hospital in Sherpur in a serious condition.

    They also said that Shila and Mila studied at a local BRAC school. Their father Salam Mia earned his living by driving a rickshaw in Dhaka. The incident has cast a shadow of mourning over the area.
