Two arrested for fraud by opening fake IDs in the name of Mirza Fakhrul, remanded
A court has granted remand to two people arrested on charges of fraud by opening fake Facebook and WhatsApp IDs in the name of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court of Thakurgaon granted their remand on Sunday (May 25) evening.
The police said that a few days ago, fake Facebook and WhatsApp IDs were opened in the name of Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and his younger brother Mirza Faisal Amin. Later, money was demanded from various people through those IDs by tempting them to get posts and nominations in BNP committees.
When several BNP leaders complained about this, the police launched an investigation. Later, based on evidence of their involvement, a person named Shakil Ahmed was arrested from Dimla in Nilphamari and a person named Haider Rahman Joy from Tangail. They were later produced in court and remanded. At this time, the police said they are investigating whether any other individuals or groups are involved in the incident.
