Two die of COVID-19 in Jessore
Two people have died of COVID-19 in Jessore. Three patients have been identified in Jessore in the last five days. Of these, two have died. In addition, three more are undergoing treatment as suspects.
The deceased are Sheikh Amir Hossain (68) of Jahurpur village in Bagharpara upazila and Yusuf Hossain (42) of Mahmudkathi village in Monirampur upazila.
Amir Hossain died in the early hours of Wednesday (June 18) and Yusuf Hossain around 12 midnight.
Yusuf was diagnosed with COVID-19 just two hours before his death. Both of them were undergoing treatment as general patients at Jessore General Hospital. When their condition deteriorated, they were shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). When symptoms were suspected, they were tested through a rapid antigen test from a private hospital in the city, and the report came back positive.
Meanwhile, the RTPCR lab of Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST) has been prepared. The tests can be started as soon as the worms are found, said Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid.
