Two Japanese nationals murdered in China

Two Japanese nationals were murdered in Dalian, a major port city in China’s northeastern Liaoning province, over a possible business dispute. The names, identities or ages of the victims were not immediately available. A suspect has been detained in the incident.

Japan’s Kyodo News reported on Tuesday, citing the Japanese embassy in China, as cited by Reuters.

Chinese police notified the Japanese consulate in Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning province, of the murders on May 25. They said the killings were the result of a business dispute between acquaintances.

Japanese media outlet Nippon.com reported that the suspect detained is believed to be a Chinese national. The incident is not believed to be ideologically motivated.
