Two youths killed after truck hits parked truck on road
Two youths were killed after a truck hit a parked truck on the road in Ujirpur, Barisal. The accident occurred at around 3 am on Sunday (June 29) in the Sonar Bangla area of the Dhaka-Barisal highway. The deceased are: Sabuj Hawlader (30), son of Dulal Hossain of Mardashi village in Ujirpur, who was crossing the road at the time of the accident. The other is Sohel (20), son of Ratan of Borgirchar village in Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia, who was a helper of a mango-laden truck.
According to Highway Police sources, a tile-laden truck leaving from Dhaka was standing on the road in the Sonar Bangla area. At that time, a mango-laden truck leaving from Chapainawabganj heading to Barisal came at a high speed and hit the parked truck from behind. Sohel, the helper of the mango-laden truck, died on the spot.
Pedestrian Sabuj Hawlader was also seriously injured in the accident. Locals rescued him and took him to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Gournadi Highway Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Sharif said that after receiving information, they reached the spot and recovered the body of the helper who was trapped in the accident. The police official said that an investigation is underway into the incident.
