    UP member fails to save himself even after jumping into pond

    UP member Abu Bakkar Siddique alias Babul (42) ran after seeing the police. Seeing the pond in front of him, he jumped into it to avoid arrest. Then, while he was in the pond, he folded his hands and told the police, “My mother died two days ago, tomorrow there is a guest, don’t touch me now, brother.” But the police did not listen to him.

    With the help of locals, he was pulled out of the pond, arrested and taken to the police station. The incident took place on Monday (May 12) afternoon in Tetoia area of ​​Khurushkul Union in Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila.

    Cox’s Bazar Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Jasim Uddin Chowdhury said that the arrested Abu Bakkar Siddique Babul is a UP member of Ward No. 1 of Khurushkul Union and the son of local deceased Amir Hamza. He had been absconding for a long time in a case of women and child abuse. At the same time, a case has been filed against him under the Explosives Act.

    Locals said that after receiving the news of the police arriving in the afternoon, Babul tried to escape by jumping into a pond. But he was unsuccessful. The police arrested him with the help of locals. The video of the incident went viral on social media.

    In this regard, Cox’s Bazar Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Jasim Uddin Chowdhury said that after the arrest, he was brought to the police station. He is in the custody of the police station. He will be taken to the Cox’s Bazar Senior Judicial Magistrate Court tomorrow morning.
