Youth arrested for killing two members of the same family in Naogaon
Police have arrested a youth on charges of killing siblings of the same family in Porsha, Naogaon. He was arrested from a furniture shop in Betua Paschimpara, Boyratail Union of Sakhipur Police Station, Tangail on Monday (May 12) morning.
The arrested youth has been identified as Nurunnabi (35). He is a resident of Banmohan village in the upazila.
It is learned that the accused youth, Nurunnabi, had been living in Gabirakudi Kadupana Para of the upazila for a long time. He is a mason by profession. He used to visit the house of the deceased Tofazzal Hossain Shah of the neighboring Porsha Purbabari Para for various works.
On April 7 this year, when a foul smell emanated from Tofazzal Hossain Shah’s house, neighbors opened the window of the house and saw the body of Tofazzal’s daughter Rezia Khatun (58) lying on the floor. They also broke the lock of the door and saw the body of her brother Nur Mohammad alias Nur (55) in the adjacent room.
When the matter was reported to the local UP chairman Shahidul Islam, he informed the police station. A police investigation team arrived at the scene that night.
Later, on the same day, the elder brother of the deceased, Fazle Ahmed Shah, filed a murder case at the Porsha police station. The accused youth fled after the incident.
Shah Alam, officer-in-charge (investigation) of the Porsha police station, said that after his arrest, the accused youth gave a chilling account of how he killed the two siblings. According to the information he provided, several pieces of evidence, including a knife and rope, were collected from the scene.
He added that he will be produced in court on Tuesday to reveal detailed information and request to record his confession. In addition, it is being investigated whether anyone else is involved in the double murder.
