    Youth arrested for spreading video of last year’s flood

    ‎The Bangladesh Army has arrested a youth named Kamrul Hasan (25) on charges of spreading confusion and panic by spreading an old video of last year’s flood on social media in Sundarganj, Gaibandha. He was later handed over to the police station.

    On Sunday (May 25) afternoon, an army patrol team conducted a drive from the newly built Haripur-Chilmari Bridge area of ​​Haripur Union of the upazila and arrested him.

    ‎The arrested Kamrul Hasan is the son of Abdul Kader of Haripur Dangarchar village of the upazila.

    According to relevant sources, Kamrul Hasan had recorded a video of the plight of the people of Banbhasi during last year’s terrible flood on his mobile phone. Recently, when he posted the video on Facebook without any warning or relevant explanation, it went viral. This spread rumors among the general public that a new flood had started and created panic in the public mind.

    When the army came to know about the rumour-spreading, they took immediate action and arrested Kamrul. He was later handed over to Sundarganj Police Station.

    In this regard, Sundarganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Hakim Azad said, “The army has arrested a young man and handed him over to the police station on charges of misleading the public by circulating old flood videos on Facebook. Necessary legal action will be taken in this incident.”
