Youth shot dead after being summoned from home in Khulna

A youth named Md. Roni alias Kalo Roni (36) was shot dead in Khulna’s Rupsa upazila.

The shooting incident took place in Moshabbarpur village of the upazila on Sunday (May 25) night. The deceased Roni is the son of Md. Anwar Hawlader of the village.

Locals said that Roni came out of the house after receiving a call on his mobile phone at night. After a while, several gunshots were heard. Later, locals saw his body lying in the field and informed the police. Roni was involved in drug trafficking in the area.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rupsa police station Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman said that the deceased youth was an associate of Grenade Babu of Khulna’s ‘B’ Company. It is initially believed that he was killed due to an internal dispute over drug trafficking. The body has been sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
